Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Creamette elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions
 

  • Boil macaroni in salted water for 8 minutes, then drain without rinsing
  • In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour, salt, and dry mustard to create a roux
  • Slowly whisk in milk and stir until the sauce begins to thicken
  • Remove from heat and stir in 1½ cups of shredded cheddar until smooth
  • Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce in a baking dish
  • Top with remaining cheddar cheese and bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden
  • Let it cool slightly before serving for best texture
